NextUp Comedy Lineup Compared 2026: Livestreams, Catch-Up, Specials, Short Sets and the Fringe

Open NextUp Comedy for the first time and the menu looks simple: Livestreams, On-Demand, Community. Click around for five minutes, though, and you'll find a lot more hiding underneath. There are weekly club nights, replays of comedy competition finals, hour-long tour shows, ten-minute sets and a whole shelf of Edinburgh Fringe recordings. Each one suits a different kind of evening, and a different amount of free time.

We went through every section of NextUp Comedy, the London-based stand-up streaming service, in October 2026 and compared its content lines side by side: what each one is, how long the shows run, when new ones arrive and which membership unlocks them. Membership prices are in British pounds because that's how NextUp charges.

Livestreams: The Main Event

NextUp says it usually streams one new show a week, rising to between 20 and 60 livestreams a month in January, February and August, when it broadcasts from the Access, Leicester and Edinburgh comedy festivals. The October 2026 schedule showed the format: club nights from Glee Club venues and The Bill Murray in London, starting at UK evening times. One listing promised "All In Comedy," a fast-paced show hosted by Robin Morgan of Mock the Week with three stand-up comedians.

The appeal is the atmosphere. Livestreams run "heckles and all," with a live chat next to the video. For US viewers, UK evening shows land in the afternoon, so plan ahead for anything you want to catch live.

Livestream Catch-Up: Competition Finals on Replay

The Catch-Up shelf is where livestreams live on, and it's heavy on competition finals. When we looked, it included the Musical Comedy Awards 2026 Final (2 hours 50 minutes), Leicester Square Theatre's Sketch Off Final 2026 (just under 2 hours) and the Not So New Comedian of the Year Final 2026 (2 hours 21 minutes), plus club-night replays.

The rules depend on the show. NextUp's homepage says most livestreams can be replayed for 7 days, falling to around 60% during the Edinburgh Fringe because each comedian decides. Its help center adds that catch-up is at the performers' discretion and is usually announced on its Twitter account first. Some catch-up pages also showed a separate option: the Musical Comedy Awards final page listed a £10 rental.

On-Demand Specials: Just Released vs. Critics' Choice

NextUp advertises more than 200 exclusive specials. Its help center says new batches of about 30 hours land four times a year, all included with a membership. Two shelves are worth knowing.

Just Released

This is where current tour shows appear. Recent additions included Geoff Norcott's Basic Bloke 2 (1:04:51), which the listing describes as his first tour under a Labour government. There's also Hal Cruttenden's Can Dish It Out But Can't Take It (1:14:54), with material on middle-aged dating and social media, and Lucy Porter's No Regrets (1:40:02), a show all about the regrets she's collected. Susie McCabe's Best Behaviour runs 1:31:08.

Critics' Choice

NextUp describes this shelf as shows that have won awards, earned top reviews and built buzz, and it suggests starting here. It mixes older and newer recordings: Tommy Tiernan's Under the Influence, filmed at the Water Rats in London; Milton Jones's HaMilton Jones, which the listing insists "is not a musical"; and an American name, Doug Stanhope's No Place Like Home, filmed in his hometown in Arizona.

10 Minute Sets: Comedy in a Coffee Break

Not every night has room for a full hour. NextUp files short sets under "10 Minute Sets," many filmed at London clubs. One example is Huge Davies's Offbeat (10:54), described as deadpan musical comedy filmed at The Bill Murray. Other short club sets, such as Live at Angel Comedy with Archie Maddocks 2 (12:04), turn up on the Critics' Choice shelf too. They're a good way to sample comedians before committing to their full specials.

Edinburgh Fringe and "Rewind"

August is NextUp's busiest month, with livestreams from the Edinburgh Fringe. Afterward, it ran a "Rewind the Fringe 2026" weekend. That page now says the event is over, but that some shows may be back to watch later in the year. The Fringe shelf still held REWIND: The Big Show at Monkey Barrel (1:36:13), with Sam Lake, Lou Wall, Andrew White, Harriet Dyer and Finlay Christie. Keep in mind the replay rule: during the Fringe, only around 60% of shows can be replayed, because each comedian decides.

Community

NextUp's website membership includes member message boards for sharing recommendations, and livestreams have their own chat. On NextUp's comparison table, only the Access All Areas membership includes the members' community.

NextUp says the three are separate systems, so a YouTube or Amazon subscription doesn't unlock its website or apps. Every program page we opened offered a free preview, which is the easiest way to test a comedian's style before you pay.

The Bottom Line

NextUp is really several services in one: live club nights for real-time fans, a catch-up shelf of competition finals, current tour specials, a Critics' Choice starter shelf, short sets for busy days and a Fringe archive. If you'd use more than one of those lines, the Access All Areas membership covers them all. Start with a free preview, then check our NextUp Comedy deals page before you join.
