A plain explanation of how EmilyReview earns money, and what that does and does not change about what you read here.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way — the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not out of your pocket.

How links are marked

Affiliate links carry the standard sponsored attribute, and articles that contain them say so in the text near the link rather than in small print at the bottom of the page. If a link is not marked, it is not one.

What it does not change

It does not change what an article concludes. Scores are set before any commercial arrangement is considered, and articles that recommend against buying still carry the link so you can check the price yourself and disagree with us.

It does not change the order things appear in. Rankings follow the editorial criteria described in our editorial guidelines, not commission rates.

Why we tell you

Partly because the US Federal Trade Commission requires disclosure of material connections, and partly because a reader who knows how a publication is funded can weigh what it says. A site that hides its funding is asking you to trust it blindly, and you should not.
